Serv-a-pure new building case-study
Serv-A-Pure, a third-generation family-owned water purification company specializing in residential, commercial and industrial systems, faced a major setback in 2020 when their building in Bay City burned down. Despite this, they managed to continue operations, thanks to their essential business status during COVID and their swift move to a temporary facility. They collaborated with Pumford for the design and construction of a new facility. The new building, featuring a larger warehouse and more office space, improved operational efficiency and accommodating their growing needs. The transition was seamless, and ServAPure praised Pumford's reliability and support throughout the process. The new facility has been well-received by many for its functionality and aesthetic appeal, significantly enhancing their business operations and resilience going forward.

Pumford alone has 3,700 man hours dedicated to this project! The total between all of the other contractors is over 9,000 additional man hours.
The building and sidewalks use radiant in floor heat. The building shell is insulated with R-25 on the walls and R-38 for the roof. Energy efficiency was made a high priority with this combination of insulation and source of heat.

Working efficiently to get Serv-a-pure into their new facility in a timely fashion
The rezoning and site plan was approved in September of 2021. The metal building was ordered in July of 2021. We broke ground and started site preparation ahead of having the plans finished and ready for the building permit. The permit was not issued until November and construction went through the winter to provide a June 2022 turnover date.

covid related construction shortages
We started construction at the height of the supplier shortages and long lead times from COVID. The teams preplanning and early ordering of key products that included electrical equipment, boilers and steel building was a key to the successful on-time turnover.
